1. The Grand Bur Dubai Mosque

Located opposite the Dubai Museum in the Bur Dubai area, this mosque is 8.1km (~15 min) away from the Dubai Airport and is accessible via bus and taxi services.

The Grand Mosque was built in 1900 as a school for Quran, later replaced in 1960 as a mosque, and finally rebuilt in 1998 in its original architectural style of 1900.

This spectacular work of architecture was a gift from the late Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, the former ruler of Dubai in 1976.
The mosque was built in a mediaeval Fatimid traditional style using pure white stones with complicated geometrical designs.

3. The Al Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque and Centre

Being one of the modern mosques in Dubai, Al-Farooq Omar Bin Al Khattab Mosque, named after Umar bin Al Khattab (a companion of Prophet Mohammed), has opened its doors for backpackers and devotees unbiased of culture or religion.

Located at Al Safa, this mosque is 19km (~15 min) away from the Dubai Airport and is accessible via local taxi services.

The external architecture of the mosque is based on the Sultan Ahmed Mosque in Istanbul or the Blue Mosque, with remarkable interior design features.

The mosque was founded in 1986, expanded in 2003, and later demolished in 2010, finally getting rebuilt in 2011.
Designed by Mohammed Al-Sheikh Moubarak Architects and renovated on the order of Khalaf Ahmed Al Habtoor (a business leader), this is an architectural and spiritual masterpiece.
With 21 domes reminiscent of the Blue Mosque, the ceiling of the mosque is adorned with Islamic drawings and Ottoman inscriptions implemented by 60 Moroccan craftsmen.
